Examination Dates
The CVE examination is administered twice a year, in the spring and the fall. Examinations are generally scheduled on the first Saturday of April and October. Information about specific dates and locations are provided to applicants when they are notified of their eligibility to sit for the exam. See the

Examination Sites
Accessible and smoke-free test sites are arranged on the basis of the geographic distribution of the candidates sitting for an examination in order to minimize travel expenses for as many examinees as possible. Every effort will be made to establish sites within a three-hour driving distance, one way, from an applicant's address of record with CCWAVES.
Examination Construct
The certification examination consists of 120 multiple-choice questions drawn from the CCWAVE's item pool. Of the 120 items, 20 are field-test items and will not be used in the scoring process. Examinees are given three hours to complete the examination.
