Certification is predicated upon the applicant's education, experience, and examination results. In order to be eligible to sit for the examination, the applicant first must meet every requirement indicated in one of the Categories listed below.
Course requirements for specific content areas may be met through lecture courses or practicums, but not through internships. A content area is said to be a “primary focus” of a course if at least one-third (15 clock hours or equivalent) of the course syllabus is devoted to that area. For more specific descriptions of required courses, see Course Applicability. .
All Category requirements must be fully satisfied by January 1 for the Spring exam or by July 1 for the Fall exam. Applications that do not meet eligibility criteria for one of the following Categories by these dates will not be accepted. Please read the Categories carefully, keeping in mind the non-refundable application fee.

Standards and Procedures Manual for Certification in Vocational Evaluation which provides more explicit information and forms. Please consult that manual before preparing application materials.
