Maintaining Certification
|
As the profession is a dynamic one which is constantly evolving, the Commission has a certification renewal program. Persons who are certified are required to demonstrate their continuing professional development at five year intervals. For the most part,
the renewals are based on continuing education activities. This type of certification maintenance is considered an essential part of an effective credentialing process and maintenance of a profession.
The Commission endorses the concept of certification maintenance as the most effective method for practitioners to continue delivering quality vocational evaluation services to consumers. The objectives of the certification maintenance plan are to:
The initial certification is valid for five (5) years. Those who pass the examination are immediately qualified for the certification maintenance process. Specifics of the process are given in The Maintenance Process for Certified Vocational Evaluation Specialists (CVEs), Certified Work Adjustment Specialists (CWAs), and Certified Career Assessment Associates (CCAAs)
Those individuals who do not renew their certifications are officially notified that they (1) may no longer use the certified designation, (2) may not represent themselves to the profession or to the public as being certified, and (3) may not exercise the rights and privileges ascribed to designation holders. |
